Speaking of Isolation...

Really, I am talking about the tomatoes!

Helga is being put into isolation, just for a few days really. Just until I can get her healthy. The expert opinion is that perhaps she is overwatered. (insert sigh of relief here) I had concerns that Helga might have had some deeper issues, like a bacterial something that was in all her seeds. We will check and see if watering her less and more sunlight helps her out.

I have all the seedlings in a "Mel's Mix". Named after the guy who wrote Square Foot Gardening, this is the author's recipe for soil: 1/3 peat moss, 1/3 vermiculite, 1/3 compost, this mix is an excellent container and raised bed soil. The mix holds a ton of extra water and I am now guessing that Helga likes it all a bit drier.

I really did ask an expert- (Master Gardener Paul) ~ If you get a chance, check out his blog "a posse ad esse" ~ link in my sidebar. One of the beautiful things about the blogging community is their willingness to help and offer suggestions to remedy what may be ailing your garden. I really appreciate reading the blogs I link to and was blessed to get a rapid response from Paul about my dilemma with the Helga Toms.

Keep watching, I will post pictures of how the Helga's are doing.

Hope it works out for Helga. She will most likely still loose the lowermost leaves, but otherwise, I think you'll be alright. With germination rates like you got, those plants definitely want to live.

Wishing you well.

I'm sure your little Helga will make it just fine. There are worse things in the world for a tomato plant than just a little over watering.
