What a one legged spica cast looks like!

Medium boy in his spica cast

What medium thinks about the spica and me taking the pictures.

Square Foot gardening about to commence...
(this is the new bed - that will be planted with Heirloom Brandywine tomatoes and various heirloom bush beans)

What the bed looks like from the deck.

We filled in the area at the bottom right just out side the bed with sod pulled up from where the squares are now. That green streak is our "dip" where rainwater flows across the yard - we had planted a nice flowering bush there and mulched it, before last years crazy rains washed it all away. All winter it was a frozen puddle. Now, in theory, the sod should take root and at least won't look flooded.

As you can see, the daffodils are coming up nicely on the bottom right. The three square areas will soon be filled with compost and soil awaiting their transplants and seeds.

We are not sure how we are going to keep the deer, rabbits, racoons etc out of the growing food. Perhaps a deer fence or bird net will work. I will be planting marigolds and other deer/rabbit repelling flowers. Marigolds should help, once the rabbits quit eating them long enough to let them flower. The black pots are just temporary, we have some flowers in them awaiting permanent residency.
